Research Disciplines
This project explores lesser-known religious traditions in Southeastern Europe, focusing on the borderlands of faith, folklore, and history. By examining traces of heresy, pre-Christian beliefs, and gendered ritual practices, and contextualizing them in geographic scenery, it offers a fresh, inclusive perspective on the regions complex past. Using a cross-disciplinary approach, the research connects local religious dynamics to wider European and global contexts. The project also aims to bridge linguistic and academic divides between Eastern and Western Europe, contributing to a more integrated understanding of shared cultural heritage. Keywords: Southeastern Europe, Religious Diversity, Heresy, Pagan Remnants, Lay Religiosity, Ritual Practices, Cultural Memory, Margins and Peripheries
